Strong Finish for Young Competitor Colton Freeze, at just 8 years old, showcased great tenacity in the 2026 Surf City 10 5K event, completing the race in an impressive 41:13. His consistent performance was particularly highlighted by the first mile, tackled at a steady 11:42 pace. Colton ranked 50th in his division (M 14 & Under) out of many older competitors, proving age is just a number. Notably, Colton's participation with the Rosendin Runners was an inspiring example of team spirit. While his overall pace was 13:17 min/mile for the 3.1-mile course, there's potential for more efficient pacing in future races, particularly between miles 2 and 3. Continuing to work on even pacing could potentially improve his time. His determination and effort at such a young age are commendable, setting a strong foundation for future races.
