Consistent Start with a Strong Finish Ernesto Valadez Avina demonstrated his tenacity in the 2026 Surf City 10 Miler. Starting off strong, he maintained an impressive pace of 5:35 min/mile for the first two miles. Despite a pace change in the third mile to 8:31 min/mile, Ernesto maintained focus and determination. He held his position at first place in his division (M 14 & Under) in miles eight and nine, showcasing his strength and perseverance in the latter stages of the race. Ending with a final time of 1:22:09 and an overall average pace of 8:12 min/mile, Ernesto placed third in his division. His pacing strategy in the initial miles allowed him to capitalize in later stages, making this a formidable finish.
