Strong Start with Room for Consistency in 10K Misael Duran from San Gabriel, CA, showcased impressive early pacing in the 2026 Surf City 10. Notably, he achieved the second position in the M 25-29 division briefly during the race. He began with an impactful 5:44 min/mile pace for the first mile, maintaining a competitive division standing. The initial miles were marked by a solid performance, with Misael consistently keeping his pace below six minutes per mile. Moving forward, there was a significant variance in performance. While the early miles exhibited commendable speed, Mile 6 experienced a drop with a pace of 113:02 min/mile. This resulted in an overall elapsed time of 2:26:54 for the 10K race. While there was a drop in standing towards the end, Misael's early splits reflect his potential for greater performance consistency.
