Consistent Acceleration Pays Off Samnang Ly from Lakewood, CA showcased impressive consistency and gradual acceleration during the 2026 Surf City 10. Over the 10-mile course, this Social Hour Run Club member steadily increased her pace from an initial 10:49 min/mile to an impressive final mile pace of 9:44 min/mile, culminating in a total time of 1:42:54. Her most substantial progress occurred between miles 7 and 8, where she sliced off an impressive 10 seconds per mile. Notably, Samnang made significant gains between the third and fourth miles, jumping from being 90th to 110th place in her division, ultimately securing a final division placement of 99th out of 4391 participants. Consistency in pacing is a strength, as shown by her performance, and while her finishing placement was 607th among females, her ability to push through the latter stages is commendable. Focusing on early race pacing could further enhance future results.
