Strong Bike Split Can't Offset a Fading Finish Spencer closed out this year's Olympic-distance Spudman in 2:57:31, a bit off his pace from the last two years (2:38:41 in 2025, 2:49:28 in 2024) and good for 448th overall out of 1,987 finishers. His bike leg was the highlight of the day averaging roughly 18.7 mph, he moved into the top 15 of his 40-44 age group early in the ride, showing real strength and control on two wheels. Momentum carried into the run, where he was sitting 15th in his division at the first checkpoint. From there, the pace steadily slipped, and he finished the run in 43rd for his age group. The gap between his early and late run splits suggests that building more durability late in the run could help him hold onto the positions his bike leg earns him.
