Steady Bike Power Highlights a Hard-Fought Olympic Finish Michael Van Bibber turned in a strong overall performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, anchored by a standout bike leg. Covering the bike course at roughly 18.3 mph, he moved up significantly in the field, climbing from 627th after the swim to 259th by the bikes midpointa clear sign of well-executed pacing and power on two wheels. The run proved more challenging, with his pace settling in the high-17-minute-per-mile range over the final miles, causing him to slip back through the field to finish 1144th overall. Given the strength of his bike segment, incorporating more run-specific endurance work could help him carry that same momentum into the final leg for an even more balanced finish next time.
