Strong Bike Leg Powers Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Jason turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, highlighted by a bike leg that averaged roughly 20.4 mph and moved him as high as 4th in his division during the ride. That strength on two wheels built a solid position heading into the run, where he settled into a steady rhythm, holding pace in the 910 minute range for much of the course before closing strong with a final mile push near 7:40 pace. Coming out of the water in a respectable position, Jasons swim-to-bike and bike-to-run transitions were efficient and didnt cost him significant ground. He finished 100th out of nearly 2,000 male participants and 11th in the competitive 50-54 age group. For future races, focusing on maintaining run intensity earlier in the leg could help him close the gap on placements lost during the middle miles.
