Steady Pacing Highlighted by a Powerful Bike Surge Travis opened his Olympic-distance day with a 31:37 swim, exiting the Snake River in solid position within his 30-34 age group. On the bike, his effort varied widelycruising through one 10.2-mile stretch at nearly 12 mph before settling into a total bike split of 2:28:32, averaging just under 10 mph. That mid-ride surge was easily his fastest sustained segment of the entire race and worth noting as a highlight. The run told a story of gradual fade: Travis opened with a 13:23 first mile, held similar rhythm through mile three, then slowed to a 15:17 pace over the final stretch before closing strong with a quick final push to the line. He crossed in 4:51:35, finishing 118th in his division. Locking in more consistent run pacing in the closing miles could be a good focus for his next race.
