Blazing Swim Sets the Tone for a Hard-Fought Olympic Finish Reid Kofford, just 15 years old, opened his Olympic-distance race with a standout swim, finishing 16:32 good for 17th overall and 15th among all men in the field, an outstanding result for any age group. He carried solid momentum onto the bike, holding a strong pace across the 24-mile course at roughly 15.7 mph, showing real strength and control on two wheels. The run proved to be the most challenging leg of the day, with pacing that varied significantly a strong start gave way to a tough patch through the middle miles before rallying again near the finish. Both transitions ran longer than ideal, with T1 at 10:07 and T2 at 8:18, presenting a clear opportunity to pick up free time in future races. Overall, a promising Olympic-distance performance from a young athlete with a clear engine, especially in the water.
