A Mid-Race Bike Surge Fuels a Steady Olympic Finish Sydney Bean made the most of the Snake River's current before settling into a strong bike leg. The standout stretch came between miles 9 and 14, where she clocked a blistering 3:35/mile pace (about 16.8 mph), climbing to 393rd overall and 98th among women her best placement of the day. Across the full 24.7-mile bike course, she averaged roughly 14.1 mph, showing solid power on the flats after that surge. Off the bike, Sydney kept a consistent rhythm through the run, holding steady in the 14:3015:30 min/mile range for most of the back half. She capped things off with a strong final kick, dropping to a 5:26 pace in the closing stretch to cross the line in 3:54:46. The bike surge stands out as a real strength to build from heading into future races.
