Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Steven Glauser #5097 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Steady Effort Marked by Strong Bike Split, Slower Finish Than Prior Year Steven Glauser completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:26:30, finishing 974th overall out of 1,987 and 58th in the Male 45-49 division. His swim came in at 21:41, followed by a 6:04 T1 transition. On the bike, he covered the course in 1:34:08, averaging roughly 15.5 mph, a solid, consistent effort through the ride. A brisk 4:30 T2 transition led into a 1:20:10 run split. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish of 3:03:40, this year's race was noticeably slower, with overall pace dropping from 5:48 to 6:31 per mile. The run segment showed significant fatigue late in the race, with mile splits slowing into the 15-minute range near mile 31. Focusing on run endurance and pacing strategy in training could help close the gap between bike strength and late-race run performance going forward.
