Bike Strength Fuels a Steady Sprint Performance Mandy Shupe turned in a well-rounded effort at this year's Spudman Sprint Triathlon, finishing in 1:58:23. Her swim came in at 19:45, followed by a 7:33 T1, setting up the standout segment of her race the bike. Averaging nearly 16.85 mph over 13.17 miles, Mandy's cycling was clearly her strongest leg, at one point climbing to 47th among women overall during the early miles before settling into 66th by the bike finish. After a brisk 3:20 T2, Mandy closed with a 40:52 run, holding a steady pace in the 13-minute range per mile. She ultimately placed 108th among 570 women and 17th in her 40-49 division. With her bike split clearly ahead of the pack, focusing on run consistency could help her close the gap even further in future races.
