Strong Swim Sets the Pace Before a Steady Finish Krista Deurmeier turned in a well-rounded performance at this year's Spudman Sprint Triathlon, finishing 397th overall and 206th among women. Her swim was the highlight of the day clocking in 10th in her 40-49 age group, a clear sign of strong open-water fitness and a great way to start the race with momentum. On the bike, Krista averaged roughly 11.1 mph, a solid, consistent effort that held steady through the course's rolling terrain. The run proved to be the area with the most room to build speed, as her pace slowed relative to her cycling gains, dropping her a bit in the standings by the finish. Compared to her 2025 Spudman result, this year's overall time was about 21 minutes slower, suggesting a good target for improvement heading into next season particularly finding more consistency in the transition-to-run effort to close out races with the same strength she shows in the water.
