Strong Bike Split Anchors a Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Dale Stephens completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:37:10, finishing 1103rd overall out of 1,987 finishers and 29th in the 40+ Clydesdale division. His swim came in at 33:18, followed by a 1:23:46 bike leg that stood out as the highlight of the day averaging roughly 17.5 mph over the course, a pace strong enough to move him from 1432nd place after the swim up to 930th by the bike finish, a jump of over 500 positions. The run proved tougher, with Dale's per-mile pace climbing from 12:50 early on to over 15:00 by the final miles, ultimately closing out in 1:26:42. This late fade cost him some ground, dropping him back to 1103rd by the finish. Transitions were efficient, with T1 in 7:27 and T2 in 5:58. Building some durability for the back half of the run could help him hold onto the gains made on the bike in future races.
