A Strong Swim and Bike Foundation Undone by a Difficult Run Markee turned in a swift swim split of 20:56 and followed it with a well-paced bike leg, averaging roughly 15.3 mph across the bike course. Early bike segments showed strong power, with several miles clocked in the 3:304:00 min/mile range, showing real strength on two wheels. The run, however, told a different story, with mile splits drifting into the 1517 min/mile range a sign that fatigue set in significantly off the bike. This marks a step back from his personal best at this race in 2024, where he finished nearly 51 minutes faster. Given the strength shown in the swim and bike legs here, building more run durability off the bike could be the clearest path back to that previous form.
