Strong Bike Surge Powers a Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Ashley opened with a 24:32 swim and a brisk 6:06 T1 before settling into the bike leg. Her early bike pace hovered around 3:414:31 per mile, but she found another gear from miles 8.8 to 22.9, clocking splits as fast as 3:173:18 per mileequivalent to roughly 18.2 mphwell above her overall bike average of about 16.7 mph. That mid-race surge helped her post a strong 1:28:10 bike split. After a quick 5:00 T2, Ashley launched into the run with a sharp 9:49 opening mile. Her pace eased slightly over the next several miles, settling between 10:44 and 11:21 per mile as fatigue set in, but she maintained composure to close out a 1:06:38 run split. She crossed the finish line in 3:10:25, capping a race defined by a well-paced swim, a fast finishing kick on the bike, and a gritty run effort.
