Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: James Wallace #7231 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Bike Strength Carries a Well-Rounded Olympic Debut James Wallace turned in a well-paced Olympic-distance effort at the 2026 Spudman Triathlon, highlighted by a strong bike leg. Covering the roughly 24.4-mile course in 1:28:04, he averaged about 16.6 mph, a pace that pushed him as high as 596th overall mid-ride before settling into the transition zone. His swim through the Snake Rivers current got him off to a solid start, sitting inside the top 40% of the field exiting the water. Both transitions ran long 12:20 in T1 and 8:55 in T2 costing him ground gained on the bike. The run settled into a steady rhythm, covering the closing 6.2 miles in 1:17:29 for a final time of 3:30:53. Tightening up transition efficiency could be a strong focus for future races, as the swim-bike-run splits themselves showed balanced fitness across all three disciplines.
