Bike Strength Powers a Steady Olympic Finish Jessica Salisbury turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance at Spudman, finishing 770th overall out of 1,987 and 157th among women. After a solid swim, she used the bike leg to make her biggest move, climbing from the 700s into the top 300 overall at points along the course. Her bike speed averaged roughly 15.4 mph, with several standout stretches near 1718 mph that pushed her as high as 8th in her division mid-ride. The run proved more of a grind, with her per-mile pace drifting from the 9:30s early on toward the 12-minute range by the final miles. Working on maintaining run pace deeper into the back half could help her convert that bike strength into an even stronger overall result next time. She closed in 30th in the 35-39 age group, capping a race defined by a clear cycling highlight.
