Strong Bike Leg Fuels Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Bracken Lovell turned in a well-rounded performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, finishing in 2:40:56 and placing 13th in the competitive 25-29 age group. After a steady swim, Lovell transitioned quickly (T1: 3:58) and then delivered the standout segment of his race on the bike, covering the leg at roughly 18.4 mpha pace that moved him up to 9th in his division by the time he hit T2. His transition out of the bike was efficient as well, clocking just 1:14 in T2. The run told a story of a fast start followed by a gradual fade: Lovell's first mile split came in at 7:51/mile, but his pace eased over the final miles, settling into the 9:30-9:46/mile range by the last stretch. This pattern suggests the strong bike effort may have taken a toll heading into the run. Overall, Lovell finished 158th out of 1,987 participants, a testament to his cycling strength, with an opportunity to build more durability for the back half of future run legs.
