Strong Bike Surge Undercut by a Fading Finish Tyson posted a 2:57:05 at this years Olympic-distance Spudman, highlighted by a bike leg that averaged roughly 17.7 mph. His mid-bike stretch was especially impressive, climbing from 71st overall to 10th in his division during one segment before settling back into the pack over the final miles. The swim was steady, and transitions were quick and efficient, setting up a solid platform for the run. The run told a tougher story an early pace near 10:07/mile slipped past 11:50/mile by the final miles, with the last mile dropping to 12:31. Compared to his 2024 Spudman finish of 2:33:32, this years time was notably slower, with overall placement falling from 316th to 434th. The bike strength suggests good fitness; sharpening run pacing in the back half could help him close races closer to his 2024 form.
