Strong Bike Leg Anchors a Steady Endurance Effort Todd Groll completed the Olympic-distance course in 3:04:39, finishing 14th in the 60-64 age group. His bike leg stood out as the highlight of the race, covering the course at an average of roughly 18.5 mph, with a notable surge through the middle miles where he briefly climbed to 8th in his division. That strength carried into the early run, where he held a sub-11:00/mile pace before settling into the back half of the course. Compared to his previous two Spudman appearances (2:47:18 in 2024 and 2:46:41 in 2025), this year's overall time was slower, largely due to a run split that tapered significantly over the final miles, dropping from a strong start to a 12:59-14:56/mile pace late in the race. Sharpening endurance in the closing miles of the run could help him recapture the finishing times seen in his last two starts.
