A Breakthrough Olympic-Distance Performance Mark Thomas delivered a significant step forward at Spudman, improving his overall finish from 712th to 364th and his age-division ranking from 69th to 35th compared to last year. His swim leg showed the benefit of the Snake River's current, and his bike leg was the highlight of the daycovering the course at roughly 18.7 mph, a pace that moved him into the top third of the men's field by the time he reached T2. The run leg was steady and well-paced, holding him inside the top 350 overall through the finish.
