Fast Swim and Bike Power a Strong Olympic Performance Holly Shepherd turned in an outstanding swim leg, finishing 10th among all women and cracking the top 75 overall out of the water. She backed that up with a brisk transition and a powerful bike leg, averaging around 16.9 mph over the course a segment where she steadily gained ground, climbing from 148th to 236th before settling among the top performers in her age group by the bike's end. The run proved tougher, as her pace gradually eased from an early 9:07 mile to the 10:3011:00 range over the final miles, before a strong closing kick brought her to the finish. Shepherd ultimately placed 61st among 1987 women and 7th in her 30-34 division, a result built largely on the strength of her swim and bike efforts.
