Strong Swim Leads to a Steady, If Slower, Finish Michael turned in a standout swim at this years Olympic Triathlon, exiting the water in 20:38 and ranking 182nd among men a clear strength in his race. Transition one, however, cost him significant ground, taking 8:03 and dropping him from 182nd to 500th in his gender group. On the bike, he averaged roughly 14.0 mph over the 24.4-mile course, finishing the leg in 1:44:33, a pace that held steady through the rolling terrain. His run was consistent, covering the 6.2 miles in 52:24 with mile splits generally between 8:00 and 8:44. Overall, Michael finished in 3:10:07, a notable step back from his 2:41:30 finish at the same race last year. With a strong swim base already in place, tightening transition time and building bike speed could help him close that gap next season.
