Strong Mid-Bike Surge Powers a Solid Sprint Finish Roman turned in a well-paced effort across the Spudman Sprint Triathlon, finishing in 1:58:25. After a steady swim, his bike leg showed real strength after averaging around 11-15 mph through the early and middle miles, he found another gear from mile 9 to 12, reaching an impressive speed of roughly 18.75 mph. That surge moved him up nearly 90 spots on the overall leaderboard, going from 299th to 213th during that stretch, a great sign of building bike fitness and confidence on the course. On the run, Roman started strong before settling into a steady rhythm, then closed with his fastest run segment of the day at nearly 6.7 mph over the final stretch a great way to finish strong. With both transitions completed efficiently, his overall race reflects solid pacing and a strong closing kick. Continuing to build sustained speed through the middle miles of the bike could help carry that late-race surge even earlier next time.
