Solid Swim-Bike Foundation Undone by a Grinding Run Mitchell Jarrell posted a strong start to his Olympic-distance race in Burley, clocking a 25:30 swim before settling into a bike leg that stood out as the highlight of his day. Covering the roughly 24-mile bike course in 1:33:26, he averaged close to 15.7 mph, a pace that moved him up into the 600800 overall range during the ride his best positioning of the race. The wheels came off pace-wise on the run, where a 1:37:32 split over the final ~6.2 miles settled into the 15:3016:45 per mile range, dropping him back to 1,303rd overall by the finish. Both transitions also ran long, at 10:50 and 10:44 respectively, offering a clear area to shave time in future races. Sharpening run fitness and tightening transition efficiency could unlock a notably faster overall finish next time out.
