Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: McKenna Armstrong #2007 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Bike Strength Carries a Steady Finish McKenna Armstrong exited the Snake River swim in 43rd among women, showing an efficient start before settling into transition. Her bike leg was the highlight of the day, averaging roughly 16.3 mph over the Olympic course, with several stretches surging past 18 mph a clear sign of strong power on the flats and descents. That bike strength pushed her into the top 30% of the field at points, climbing as high as 3rd in her 19-24 division mid-ride. The run proved tougher, with her pace easing from an early 12:08 mile toward the 13:30 range as fatigue set in, before closing with a strong final kick near the finish line. She crossed in 3:16:12, placing 165th among women and 14th in her division a race defined by a swim-bike combination that set her up well, with the run offering the clearest area to build on for future starts.
