Steady Pacing Powers a Strong Bike Leg to a Solid Olympic Finish Abner Rangel completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:04:44, finishing 599th overall out of 1,987 and 82nd in the men's 35-39 division. His swim came in at 27:29, placing him mid-pack early, but he used the bike leg to move up significantlycovering the 24.39-mile course at an average of roughly 16.1 mph. A standout stretch came between miles 8.8 and 14.4, where he clocked a blistering 19:09, translating to nearly 17.6 mph and a jump to 285th overall for that segment. Rangel carried solid momentum into the run, covering the 6.29-mile course in 58:35, averaging about 9:19 per mile. His pacing was consistent throughout, with only minor fluctuations across run splits. Transitions were efficient, with T1 in 5:29 and T2 in a swift 2:26. Building swim speed could be a productive focus for future races, given the strength he showed on the bike and run.
