Steady Swim, Strong Bike, and a Gritty Run Seal a Top-5 Age Group Finish Donovan turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, highlighted by a bike leg that averaged roughly 20.3 mph, a big contributor to his overall pace and consistency throughout the race. That effort helped him climb from 649th in his gender group after the swim to 109th by the finish, showing strong power and control on two wheels. The run continued that momentum, with early miles in the 8:148:48 range before settling into a strong finishing kick, closing the final stretch at a swift 4:25 pace. Donovan finished 4th in the Men's 55-59 Solo division and 109th out of hundreds of male finishers overall. His swim, while solid, was the one leg where he lost the most relative groundan area worth targeting for continued improvement heading into future races.
