Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Tanner Meng #4185 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Consistent Pacing Anchored by a Standout Bike Leg Tanner Meng completed the Olympic Triathlon in Idaho Falls with a well-rounded performance, finishing 423rd among men and 64th in his 30-34 division. His swim came in at a solid pace, transitioning quickly into a bike leg that averaged roughly 16.5 mph over the 24-mile course a strong showing that moved him up through the field, climbing from 299th to 270th in his gender group by the race's midpoint. The run proved more of a grind, with his pace settling into the 10-11 minute range per mile during the middle miles before a strong final kick, closing with a 4:50 pace over the last tenth of a mile. Overall, Tanner's bike strength stood out as the highlight of his day, and continued work on translating that cycling fitness into the run could help him close the gap even further in future races.
