Bike Speed Fuels a Balanced Sprint Performance Emily Sorensen turned in a well-rounded showing at the 2026 Spudman Sprint Triathlon, finishing in 1:54:34 and placing 88th among 570 women. Her standout leg was the bike, where she averaged just under 15 mph over the course a segment strong enough to move her into the top 120 overall at one point along the route. That effort set her up nicely heading into the run, where she settled into a steady rhythm to close out the race. Coming off a longer Olympic-distance effort at Spudman in 2024, this sprint outing showed solid overall balance across all three disciplines. The swim and transitions were efficient, and while the run pace dipped slightly compared to her bike intensity, it remained consistent mile to mile. Sharpening run turnover off the bike could be a good focus for future races, especially given the strength she's already shown on two wheels.
