Steady Effort Secures Top-Five Finish in the 70+ Division Michael Washburn completed the Olympic-distance course in 3:59:43, finishing 5th in the Male 70+ division. His swim came in at 32:04, followed by a strong bike leg where he averaged roughly 14.5 mph over the 23-mile ride, climbing as high as 2nd in his division mid-ride. His two transitions combined took under 18 minutes, a solid mark for an athlete in his age group. The run proved the most demanding segment, with a 1:33:41 split that saw his per-mile pace settle into the mid-teens over the closing miles. Compared to his 20232025 finisheseach completed in under 3:50this year's time reflects the natural shift into a new age bracket. Washburn's fourth consecutive Spudman finish continues to underscore his endurance and long-term commitment to the sport.
