Powerful Bike Leg Drives a Determined Finish Mechel Orrock's day was defined by a standout ride. After exiting the swim in the 800s overall, she surged through the bike course, climbing as high as 242nd overall by the second checkpoint. Averaging roughly 17 mph on two wheels, she found her peak rhythm through miles 1419, pushing close to 20 mph the fastest stretch of her race and a clear strength to build on. The run brought a similar spark early on, with one segment vaulting her to 5th overall and 2nd in her gender field before settling into a steady 11:03/mile pace to the finish. She crossed the line in 3:11:07, placing 143rd among women and 45th in the non-competitive division. Compared to her 2:45:30 finish at last year's Spudman, this result came in slower overall a good target to chase as she looks to blend her strong bike gains with more consistent run pacing next season.
