Powerful Bike Leg Fuels a Hard-Earned Olympic Finish Zackerey turned in a standout bike performance, covering the course at roughly 17 mph and steadily climbing through the fieldmoving from the mid-300s to the low-200s in overall placement during the ride. That strength on two wheels set up a solid transition into the run, where he started strong, holding close to an 11:38/mile pace through the opening miles off the bike. As the run progressed, the pace gradually eased into the 12:3013:45/mile range over the closing miles, a common pattern after a strong bike effort. Zackerey finished in 3:06:58, placing 87th in his division. With such a strong cycling foundation already in place, dialing in some run-specific endurance work could help him carry that early run pace deeper into the final miles for an even stronger finish next time out.
