Strong Bike Leg Fuels a Big Jump in the Standings Justin Keate turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance at Spudman, punctuated by a standout bike split. Covering the bike course at roughly 19.8 mph, he moved into the top 20% of the field exiting T2, a clear strength in his race. His swim was steady, and after a smooth 1:23 second transition, he settled into a run that held mid-7:00s to low-8:00 per mile pace before closing with a strong final push, dropping to under 8:00/mile over the last mile. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish, Keate's overall time slowed slightly from 2:30:55 to 2:36:47, but his placement improved significantly climbing from 211th to 124th overall, 186th to 108th among men, and 27th to 13th in his division. This suggests a more competitive field time this year, with Keate's bike strength playing a key role in his advancement through the pack.
