Bike Strength Fuels a Steady Olympic-Distance Finish Camas Beames completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 2:51:07, highlighted by a strong cycling leg that averaged nearly 19 mph over the 24-mile course. A standout stretch mid-ride saw him hit a blistering 2:51/mile pace (about 21 mph), which briefly moved him into 72nd overall his best positional split of the day. His transitions were efficient, especially a snappy 1:16 in T2, showing sharp preparation between bike and run legs. The run proved more challenging, with pace gradually slipping from 9:14/mile early on to 11:39/mile by the final miles, reflecting fatigue after a hard bike effort. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish of 2:27:05, this year's result was slower by about 24 minutes, with overall placement shifting from 147th to 331st. Building more targeted run endurance, particularly pacing consistency in the back half, could help him close that gap in future races.
