Steady Bike Power Anchors a Determined Olympic Finish Marty Baker completed the Olympic distance in 3:50:26, showing real strength on the bike leg where he averaged roughly 15.1 mph, a strong showing that moved him up significantly in the standings by T2. The swim was solid and set up a smooth transition into the ride, where he maintained consistent splits throughout the course. T1 ran a bit long relative to the field, an area worth tightening up for future races. The run leg proved the toughest stretch, with pacing settling into the 1416 minute/mile range over the back half likely a product of the effort spent on the bike. Still, Marty found another gear at the very end, closing with a blistering final 0.1 mile at a 4:30/mile pace, a great way to cross the finish line with authority.
