Fast Start on the Bike Sets the Tone Before a Gritty Finish Kim Christensen opened her race with a swift swim, splitting 21:25 and sitting inside the top five of her division exiting the water. She carried that momentum onto the bike, briefly leading her age group through the first bike checkpoint before settling into a strong overall ride, averaging roughly 14.6 mph across the 23-mile course. The run proved more challenging, with pacing gradually loosening from a 12:20/mile stretch early on to over 15:00/mile by the final miles. Compared to her 2023 Spudman finish, this year's overall time was about 34 minutes slower, and she finished 6th in the 60-64 division. Still, the early swim and bike segments showed real strength, and tightening up run pacing in the closing miles could be a valuable focus for future races.
