Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Preston Harmon #4109 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Powerful Bike Leg Anchors a Steady Olympic Effort Preston Harmon completed the Olympic distance in 3:18:29, finishing 851st overall and 90th in the competitive 30-34 age group. His swim leg set a solid foundation, exiting the water in a time that placed him mid-pack in his division. The bike course was clearly his strength during one standout stretch around mile 14, he surged to 32nd in his age group and 213th among all men, showcasing a sustainable, powerful gear on the flatter sections of the ride. The run proved more challenging pacing-wise, with splits gradually lengthening from an 11:24 opening mile to over 13:00 by the final stretch a common sign of accumulated fatigue after a strong bike push. Sharpening run pacing strategy, perhaps by holding back slightly in the opening bike surge, could help preserve leg turnover for a more even run split in future Olympic-distance efforts. Overall, this was a well-rounded performance with a clear cycling strength to build around.
