Strong Bike Split Powers Steady Olympic Finish Hayden Petersen turned in a solid all-around performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, finishing in 3:01:52. The standout of the day was his cycling leg, where he averaged roughly 18.2 mph, a pace that pushed him as high as 122nd overall during the middle bike segments before settling into the pack by T2. His transitions were efficient, and he carried consistent effort into the run, holding his position among a competitive 35-39 age group where he placed 73rd. Compared to his 2024 Spudman result of 2:42:00, this year's race was noticeably slower across the board, with overall placement dropping slightly from 509th to 536th and division placement from 68th to 73rd. The run segment showed the most fade, with pace slowing in the later miles. Sharpening endurance for the back half of the run could help close the gap between his strong bike segment and finishing time in future races.
