Strong Bike Surge Offsets a Slower Swim Start Bradford Dyreng completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 2:53:10, finishing 368th overall out of 1,987 and 11th in the 40+ Clydesdale division. He exited the water in 24:14, sitting 736th overall, but used the bike leg to climb significantly through the field covering the 24.39-mile bike course at an average speed of roughly 19.2 mph and moving up to 176th overall by the final bike split. This strong cycling performance was the highlight of his race, offsetting a slower swim leg that saw him lose ground early. The run leg settled in around a 10:40/mile average pace, holding steady through the final miles despite dropping some positions from his post-bike ranking (176th to 368th overall). Compared to his 2025 Spudman result of 2:39:34, this year's time was about 13 minutes slower, suggesting an opportunity to focus on swim efficiency and maintaining bike-leg placement into the run for a faster overall finish next time.
