A Blazing Swim Anchors a Steady Olympic-Distance Effort Bowen exited the Snake River in just 5:44 the fastest swim split in the entire field, topping the overall, mens, and 30-34 age group leaderboards outright. A sharp 5:09 first transition kept the momentum rolling into the bike leg, where early pace was strong, holding closer to 12 mph through the opening miles before settling into an overall average near 14.4 mph across the roughly 24-mile ride. Placement data show a gradual fade on the bike, moving from 20th overall early on to 562nd by the dismount. An 8:19 second transition was on the slower side relative to the field, and the 1:10:22 run leg mirrored the bikes pattern opening at a 10:17 mile before easing past 12:00 pace in the closing miles, for a final time of 3:11:26. Compared to last years 2:55:48 finish at Spudman, this was a slower overall result, pointing to an opportunity to work on sustaining pace through the back half of both the bike and run legs.
