Strong Bike Leg Powers a Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Jeff Hendrickson completed the Olympic-distance course in 3:18:11, highlighted by an impressive bike segment. Riding roughly 24.4 miles in 1:28:53, he averaged about 16.5 mph, a pace that pushed him as high as 399th overall at one point during the ride a significant climb from his 1,291st position exiting the swim. This bike strength carried into the run, where he clocked 1:10:45 for the closing 6.2 miles, helping him finish 65th out of 122 in the Men's 40-44 division. The swim was the area with the most room to grow, with a 29:54 split translating to a pace well behind his cycling and running efficiency. Sharpening swim technique and reducing T1 time (6:01) could shave meaningful minutes off future results, especially given how well he capitalized on the bike and run to close out the race.
