Strong Bike Split Powers Podium-Contending Finish Michael McRae turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance at Spudman, finishing in 2:05:32 to place 5th overall and 2nd in the 35-39 age group. His swim came in at 19:00, followed by a swift transition, before he unleashed a standout bike legcovering the 23.26-mile course in 59:24, an average of roughly 23.5 mph. That effort included a blistering mid-race surge, hitting 2:12/mile pace during one stretch that briefly moved him into 3rd overall on the bike course. A quick 1:26 T2 kept his momentum rolling into a 44:04 run split to close out the race. Compared to his last two Spudman appearances, this result continues a strong trend of top-5 finishes, though his overall time was a touch slower than his 2:03:03 mark from 2025. His run pace settled around 7:05/mile for most of the course, a slight step back from last year's finishing kick. Sharpening late-run consistency could help him close the gap to his fastest Spudman time yet.
