Steady Bike Power Fuels a Hard-Fought Olympic Finish Ryan Richards completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:32:00, finishing 62nd in the men's 45-49 division. His bike leg stood out, averaging roughly 15.6 mph overall, with a standout mid-course surge covering nearly 8 miles at about 16.3 mphgood enough for 13th in his division on that stretch alone. This burst of speed showed strong sustained power on two wheels, even as the overall bike split settled to a more moderate pace by the finish. Compared to his 2024 Spudman result of 3:14:32, this year's time was about 17 minutes slower, with the swim and transitions taking a bit longer than before. The run held steady in the second half, but a few late-race splits suggest some fatigue crept in over the final miles. Overall, a race with clear bike strength to build from heading into future events.
