Strong Swim Propels Steady Olympic-Distance Finish Brad Smith turned in a well-rounded performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, finishing in 2:38:49 and placing 22nd in the competitive 35-39 Male division. His swim was a standout, ranking 32nd overall and 3rd in his age groupa clear strength to build on. He backed that up with a bike leg averaging roughly 17.4 mph, holding position solidly within the top 150 overall through the ride. The run continued that consistency, with Brad holding a pace in the high 7:00s to low 8:00s per mile for most of the course before closing strong with a final surge under 3:15 pace over the last tenth of a mile. Transitions were efficient, particularly T2 at under two minutes, helping him maintain overall placement. With a fast swim as a foundation, tightening bike-to-run transitions and pushing bike wattage further could help Brad climb even higher in future Olympic-distance events.
