Swim Speed Sets the Tone, But Bike and Run Slow the Pace Justin opened with a strong swim, clocking 20:22 and cracking the top 200 overall (192nd) a clear strength in his race. Transitions were efficient, with T1 in 5:16 and T2 in just 2:40. On the bike, he averaged roughly 16.5 mph over the course, a solid effort though it settled him into the mid-pack by the bike dismount. The run told a mixed story: after a rough patch mid-course, Justin surged through the third running split, briefly rocketing into 4th overall and 2nd in his division before settling back as fatigue set in over the final miles. He crossed the line in 3:11:04, finishing 58th in the competitive 40-44 age group. Compared to his 2:56:27 finish the previous year, this was a step back worth revisiting bike pacing and closing run miles to recapture last year's form.
