Fast Start, Fading Finish Julie posted a 3:06:01 to finish in the top third of a stacked 1,987-athlete Olympic field. Her swim was a definite highlight a 130th-place finish among women and 16th in her division setting her up with strong positioning entering T1, where she was already inside the top 450 overall. The bike leg averaged roughly 16.7 mph, but her position slipped from a top-300 overall spot early in the ride to 611th by T2, suggesting the middle miles were tougher than the opening surge. The run showed a similar pattern, starting near 10:20/mile before drifting past 12:00/mile in the closing miles. Compared to her 2025 Spudman finish of 2:57:24, this year came in about 8 minutes slower worth examining pacing strategy on the bike and run to protect that strong swim advantage from the start.
