Bike Surge and Determined Run Rally Highlight the Day Keith Pells completed the Olympic-distance race in 3:13:59, finishing 766th overall out of 1,987 participants and 611th among men. The standout of his day was a well-executed bike leg: after opening around 13 mph through the first several miles, he built dramatically to nearly 18.6 mph over the middle-to-late portion of the coursean excellent display of pacing and strength as the ride progressed. On the run, Keith started fast with a 9:47 per mile opening mile before settling into a tougher 12:02 per mile stretch through the midsection, a natural dip after his strong bike effort. He responded well in the closing miles, picking the pace back up to under 9:40 per mile in the final mile, finishing with a strong kick to the line.
