Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Heather Smith #3270 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Steady Bike Power Fuels a Strong Age-Group Finish Heather completed the Olympic-distance course in 3:12:53, finishing 748th overall and 10th in her competitive 45-49 age group. Her bike leg was a highlight, covering roughly 24.4 miles in 1:36:15 for an average of about 15.2 mph, with one standout segment (B5) clocked at a blistering 3:32/mile pace, moving her into the top 100 riders at that point. Coming off the swim in 29:55, she used the bike to climb significantly in the standings before heading into the run. The run showed encouraging surges of speed, particularly a segment (R3) where she posted a 9:19/mile pace and briefly led her entire age division. Overall run splits ranged between 7:53 and 9:45 per mile, reflecting solid endurance across the 10K. Consistency in pacing during the run could be an area to sharpen for future races, as the fluctuation suggests room to find a more even rhythm off the bike.
